Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic; Raised in New York.
Angel is a Producer, Composer, Arranger, Trumpeter, Guitarist
and Educator.
While working towards his Master of Music degree from the
Manhattan School of Music, Angel Fernández worked
with the Collective Black Artist’s Ensemble, the Millie,
Jocelyn y Los Vecínos band and the Machíto
Orchestra. In the early 1980’s, he joined Ray Barretto’s
salsa-jazz orchestra, touring internationally and performing
and arranging on such recordings as the 1990 Barretto-Celia
Cruz Grammy winner, Ritmo en el Corazon. Since then, he
has appeared on many of Ray Barretto’s Salsa and/or
Latin jazz recordings, either as performer or arranger.
